Stand

From deep within,

A roaring comes,

Defying the steady beat of drums.

The people shout,

"Monster, beware!"

You incredulously stare.

Your heart is beating,

Hard and fast.

You wonder how long it will last.

You feel yourself

Take a breath

Snatch innocence from the jaws of death.
