Stand Up
I’ve come across many people who hate standing up
“My feet are tired!” They pout and frown
There’s no point in standing when there are so many chairs around
So we live our whole lives sitting down
Yet we also get bored of sitting
But instead of standing we glue our eyes to our phones
Drowning the world out in oblivious bliss
Unaware of things happening below our nose
While we sit down
Others choose stand
And because of that, they’re shoved around and are floor-bound
Their pain unknown to the land
And finally when we notice
Others are trapped in a battle because they don’t sit
We ponder whether to intervene if we dare
Cause we are too afraid of losing our chair
So we sit there and watch
As if we're watching gladiators in the pit
We watch as others are in desperate need of help
And don't intervene because it's more convenient to sit?
We say our feet are tired
But their feet are turning black and blue
And we are all human aren't we not
Don't you think they deserve to sit like you?
So if you see a battle before you
Whether the competitors are your closest family or completely unknown
Get out of your chair and help them out
Let them know that they're not alone
I’m not saying it isn’t good if sometimes you want to sit
But we all need to stand one day
And if you see someone who isn't treated fair
It's time to stand up and let go of your chair.
