Stand Alone
Bullets fly
Bombs explode
Shrapnel flies through the air
Neverending gunfire
Neverending war
When will the hatred end
Far off in the distance
One lone soldier watches
Sorrow in his eyes-
tears on his face
He holds a torn flag in his hand
Is this what we have become
Ones who unite to fight for hate
When we used to stand-
for freedom and new light
Where now we stand for money-
greed and blind sight
I came to free a people
for once I was freed
I didn't come to kill in the night
and steal-that's not right
I want to stand-
for something more
For I have a soul in my core
As a soldier I was tought to fight
As a christian-
I was taught
to bring others to His light
So what am I to choose
Do I shoot first-
ask later
like I am told
Or do I stand up-
for what I believe in
Do I stand alone
That day battles carried on
People lived and people died
But one lone soldier walked away
He'd seen enough death-
in his day
He left his rifle in the sand
and walked on in search-
of a more peaceful land
