Stand UP for your flag

Location

The soldiers are hungry.

They live on meager meals,

Meager meals indeed.

While we sit here,

cracking jokes, and breaking yolks

in home economics.

Supplies are sent,

But not enough,

Not what they really need.

While we sit here,

eating lunch

*CRUNCH*

The soldiers are brave,

They stand their ground,

As enemy life approaches.

While we sit here,

making amends with our friends,

between our classes

They don’t ask why,

Or cry, wishing to die

Their bodies come home in coaches.

While we sit here,

complaining about equations

and contemplations.

The soldiers are loyal,

Never waiver as

they stand under their flag’s command.

While we sit here,

too tired to stand,

for the Pledge of Allegiance.

What a sham.

Here comes the enemy,

They stand their ground,

And they

   all

        fall

          down

They

       all

            fall

                  down

They

         all

  fall

       down

They say, "ignorance is bliss"

Is that right, "Principal, miss"?
