Stand up for yourself

Once when I was little I made a friend

I never imagined that this is how it was going to end

I was picked on repeatedly for a while

Everything they said to me was very vile

The words made me feel so weak

Somehow they got me to feel like a freak

As they continued to bully me

I just wanted to flee

Running away from my problems felt like all I wanted to do

So there I would sit alone in my room

Until one day I couldn’t take it anymore

I was done fighting this war

I told my mom and dad later that day

After all the anxiety they caused I knew that I was finding a clear pathway

To speak out to my bully and end the fight

The last time I cried over them was that night

The next day I came to school

I was tried and done with the bully being cruel

So I spoke up for what they were doing that was wrong

And now I realize what I did was so strong

If I didn’t speak up for what I thought

I would not be in this very spot

I succeed in life and the things I do

Just because I spoke up and had my final breakthrough
