Standards

Standards are set to be a foundation upon which we are all supposed to judge ourselves. Standards are supposed to be the average, no, below average so that we may compare our success to generate self-worth. Why are these standards set by those who have achieved optimal success? Why is it not those who have survived having every door of opportunity slammed in their face set the standards of society? A bottom must be set so that we may pull ourselves above it. So how are we supposed to pull ourselves above perfection? We must evolve to survive. Darwin’s theory of evolution exponentially accelerating to form superhumans out of the youthful and the innocent. The generations before us have crushed every resource, leaving their children to gasp for air. But they are expected not just to catch their breath, but then to pull our elderly to the top of the mountain of debt, disease, and damnation that has been swept under the rug for too long. With each step, this new species of superhumans are expected to fix the world and to set new standards for those to follow. Right step. End Type 2 Diabetes Left step. Achieve Equality Right Step.Cure Cancer. Left step. Stop Hunger. Right step. Reverse Climate Change. Left step. Sustain World Peace. We are not superhumans and this is not our standard.
