Standing Alone

Looking around seeing all these faces

But feeling alone

Standing in the center of the shadows alone

But somehow people have managed to enter this realm

They have managed to find me

They stand before me

I still felt alone

But looking into their eyes

I could see they understand my pain

For I can see it runs deep in them as well

But I turn away

I… I… I…can’t do it

I can’t handle it

The very thing that hurts me I can’t deal with it

I’m not ready

It’s too much

I may turn away but they won’t let me go

They come to the front

They surround me

Everywhere I turn they follow me

I can’t escape them

They take hold of me and say

“It doesn’t matter where or when if you want to talk we are here”

“We may not know what you went through but it doesn’t matter”

“You’re our family now and that is forever”

Standing alone was what I knew

But now there are others here with me

It’s a strange knew feeling

But I kind of like it

For a long time

Standing alone

But now

Seems I can’t do that anymore

They won’t let me

:-)
