Standing Out In Open Light
STANDING OUT IN OPEN LIGHT
They think.No.
We ALL think this at least once in our lives,
That we shouldn’t be here,
That we don't have a life worth living,
And maybe we should just disappear
The only difference is,
Some of us dismiss the thought with a simple flick of our hand,
While others hold on to the thought as they are dragged deeper into despair.
And i guess it doesn’t help
That there are others here
Hiding in wait
Lying in the shadows
Waiting for a spark of dread
Or that single thought i don't belong.
And then they encourage that thought
And feed that spark of dread until it turns into a flame
And then a raging fire
They whisper taunting words in our ears giving us the idea
What if i weren’t here?
But still there are others here
Standing out in open light
Waiting too help us overcome our fears.
They whisper words of encouragement in our ears
Killing that idea replacing it with instead
I do belong and this is where i’ll stay
And then they help
They help to put that raging fire inside
out.
