Staring at My Pen

I stare at my pen This dream that I'm hiding in Temple to temple It seems so simple Romanticizing the fantasies Of what my life could be If I could just stop staring at my pen To get up and make a move Instead I'm on cruise control snooze I could be Alexander the Great Conquering the dynamics of 21st century political adversaries If I could just stop stop staring at my pen I could write my own Iliad To which I forge my own journeys If I could just stop staring at my pen I could be Maya Angelou's Phenomenal Woman Sway my hips Lick my lips Only the way that I can If I could just stop staring at my pen That's it, I've had enough This pen draws the outline of me Almost out of ink So I wish to speak the manifest of my destiny
