Starless

Oh how dreadful! Oh how sad

That the night is starless.

This darkness leaves me mad

Lonely, and sleepless.

How am I to fill my dreams

With a starless sky?

Memory can’t suffice it seems

No matter how I try.

Nevertheless on this starless night

I claim this consolation.

The sky will soon be set alight

With rekindled constellation.

Oh how lonely the world would seem

If night was only darkness.

So many of us would never dream

If the sky was ever starless.
