Starry Night
I saw Starry Night on your face swirling to the warm pulse in your neck
that day while you slept
you loved me
your head turned away,
I imagined the painters hand who crafted that star on your chin so far beyond
I imagined the thought that went into creating that small crescent moon shaped space behind your ear
smooth and barren,
that night does not give life the way the sunlight pouring through the blinds does
the way it cascades over your neck, twitching simultaneously with the beating of your night heart
while your mind rests and slips into oblivion
I watch your deep red blood flow thoughtlessly through your warm body
when you woke,
the night loomed and took you once again from me
I watched the night sky that day in your bed
falling
