Pinpricks of light

Against a midnight sky

So tiny, yet so bright

Twinkling softly

from their lofty perch

Silent as shadows

A source of wonder

for young and old

So far away, yet

So close to our hearts

A child’s wish, so

hopeful and innocent

Shared with the heavens,

in hopes of being fulfilled
