The Stars

The Stars

She’s smoldering,

Heavily veiled by smoke and smog.

The stars softly extinguish

and we’re lost.

A wave of abuse and a dangerous deadline.

She’s doomed by her parasitic inhabitants.

We’re the last hope of undoing the damage.

Generations piling on top of each other.

I wouldn’t call it inspiration,

maybe a heavy hand-me-down choice

that intensifies with time.

I just want to see the stars.
