The Stars

That first night

We spent lying under the stars

You held my hand and told me you'd love me forever

My heart beat for you, for you it took flight

The stars watched nights spent kissing in cars

Soon "i love you" turned into "love you" into "luv ya"

Each night was filled with screaming fights

Angry texts, flinging broken glass jars

The stars watched nights spent crying over reluctant change

The stars have sight

They watched love tortured, fractured, and torn

The stars watched our love crumble under the unbearable pressure

The stars witnessed months of bliss, gone in a second

And years of pain, healed in a minute
