Start With the End

A chill runs
down a broken spine.
Eyelids flutter
for the very last time.
Panic springs
through the lovers’ chest,
As heart fails
to pass the pulse test.

But this story started
long before tragedy struck,
when two souls met
with a little good luck.
But so few truly know
how it really began,
that too many people
start with the end.

A chill runs
down the first soul’s spine.
Eyelids flutter,
and the two are lost in time.
Panic springs
through the brave one’s chest.
As heart fails
to come to a rest.

Too many people
start with the end,
so that few truly know
how it really began.
This story started
long before tragedy struck,
when these two souls met
with a little good luck.
