The Starving Artist Is A Myth

Sun, 11/04/2012 - 03:31 -- HiThere

They are not all the same.
He is himself. She is herself.
Everyone is different.

She said, "I want to be an artist."
To those who asked about her ambitions.
"Are you kidding me?"
Retorted those who were only thinking of the best for her.
Vicariously living through her,
Incessantly thinking of her,
Never stopping to think any further,
"Go be a lawyer." they said.

And that was that.
Really, they had really hoped for that,
That she would heed their advice,
In spite of her aesthetic nature.
Struggling to please them in school,
The years went by, but were full of fun.

Inspired, she had created pieces of art.
She had gone against their wishes.

Amazing at what she did, they were still proud of her,

Merrily living on her career and their love for her.
You might ask "How?"
The starving artist is a myth.
Here's for all of you pursuing your dreams.
