A State of Being

To live without

The internal monolog,

The one that brings dreams to life,

Is a world of bland

Thoughtless, soulless creatures.

Individuality snuffed out,

The colors and all their beauty

Gone.

Without the distraction of the mind

Reality seems just that much more unbearable,

That much more severe.

The vivid pictures,
Falling together like a film

In my mind,

Showing me

Beautiful, intricate stories

That are mine alone to hold.

The world in my mind

Is one that I fear

I could not live without.
