State of Mind
Words can only say so much,
Describe so much,
And do so much.
But I’ve been caught up in thoughts
That I’m tangled in words
Like a kitten in yarn.
I need a sense of fun
That hasn’t been done
But originality—there is none.
Words can only say so much
Of the state of mind;
Still there’s a reason to write.
These thoughts can swell,
And words have a little spell.
It’s as though you’re in a maze;
You seek to be free from this craze.
It’s a puzzle; it’s a game
It’s an unfinished frame.
Perception is beauty,
And diction is the key.
Words are directions for the troubled mind,
A remedy so unique to its own kind.
It’s like the stars have gathered in the night
And sunflowers blossomed by their light.
An evening star for the raven to soar
There’s room for individuality to explore—or else it’s nevermore.
I have untangled myself from these threads,
But these thoughts continue to spread.
Clustered and in a mess
Declarations I have yet to address.
Passion has no reason or rhyme
It seeks not of just a lifetime.
It takes a lifetime to be heard
And another to be understood.
After our souls and fresh depart from this earth,
The earth remains surrounded by words.
