State of Misery

I am surrounded by Success.

The frightfully daunting ambition

Of another’s dream achieved.

I wander through Oz as I wonder

“What’s happened to me?”

He stares at me,

Taunting me with every tantalizing,

Unachievable dream.

He drips Tar into every crevice of my heart.

It makes me seethe with a longing

To be more— and yet,

An excavating desperation to be free.

He ignorantly mocks me

As I am stuck in this ignorant State of Misery,

Longing to be free of the freedom that is

So deeply haunting me.
