States Apart

STATES APART

Mom, you got with a man I did not approve

You knew when I graduated, I would move

We are states apart because I love you

It was drink after drink

He did not think

We are states apart because I love you

I stood out all nights

To avoid all fights

We are states apart because I love you

His kids and I did not get along

They called me names as I sang a song

We are states apart because I love you

I sang Don't You Worry Child

As my thoughts ran wild

We are states apart because I love you

I was sad

And you were mad

We are states apart because I love you

You need romance with your palm in his palm

But I still love you Mom

We are states apart because I love you

We are miles apart

But distance healed our hearts

We are states apart because I love you
