Static in My Chest

I wake up tired like sleep doesn't stick My thoughts are loud before I even move The Mirror shows a version slightly sick A face I wear but never really prove My chest is tight like something's always wrong A quiet panic humming underneath I play it off, pretend that I belong While biting back the edges of my teeth The world moves fast, I lag a step behind Like everyone got maps I never found They talk of peace like it's a state of mind But mine's just noise that never settles down. And still I show up, breathing like I'm fine, A practiced act I play in every line.
