Statistics
I refuse to be another statistic
A black kid whose future is already written
In stone, the words are there on the walls
They say America is free, but I don't see justice for all
I refuse to live up to the stanards,
That all blacks are only good for jail
That we are not worthy of graduating from Yale
That bars that my ancestors had set for them
I refuse to let it go down to the next generation of kids
We are, more than what meets the eye
More than criminals, But blessings in disguise
I refuse to be another statistic
My future is not in jail, nor in court
There's more in me than what you think I'm worth
I heard the words when they were almost misheard
I am not perfect, but who are you to judge
Something wrong with this poem?
