Statue

She is a black girl and wishes to be in her element

Wishes to feel confident in her own skin,

She is determined and hardworking but that is seen as irrelevant

She wonders about feeling welcomed in every community but is never given a grin.

Wanting opportunities yet another black girl being pushed down again

As she sits on the ground, told that she isn't enough

Now she is concerned and questions every step she takes but when,

She does, she presents herself in such a way that makes her look tough.

She is powerful and beautiful

She is now confident and determined more than ever

She is like a strong statue that is unmovable

She is a black girl and will never surrender.
