Stay

I unconsciously keep finding ways to push people away

I constantly ask “Why do you?” and “Would you still love me if?”

And I guess you could say it’s because I’ve been left before

My dad, my friends, the people I love

All gone

Why can’t they love me enough to stay?

“I love you’s” mean nothing

They’re always followed by absence

I don't push people away on purpose

I promise.

I just don't want to get hurt

It’s so rare for someone to come back

If I push, that’s when I need you the most

And I know denying myself of love makes weak, not strong

But that’s why I need you to be strong

For me.
