Stay with me - don't go

Velvet and chocolate in your voice

You give sweet encouragement and laughter

Sing me a requiem to make the angels cry

A love song to comfort the ones who lost you

A lullaby to tell us you are now at peace

Curls and forest eyes

My young heart didn't see the forest was corrupt and would only do me harm

That sparkling smile and that joyous laugh were going to be with me throughout all life's adventures

But in the end, the forest lost all life and fell dormant around me

And then that tight embrace carelessly discarded my heart and left

Sunshine and dimples

I don't remember a day without you

And I don't want to see the day that you go

Gray clouds and no Raine -

I am crippled by the thought

I don't want to see the day that you go

And that's why I ask that you

Stay with me - don't go

After all of this -

Enduring, constant, never-ending -

Pain upon pain upon pain

There is an end in sight,

A hope that makes this pain seem light

It has defeated this pain and in its place has given peace

Enduring, constant, never-ending -

Grace upon grace upon grace

And I never have to say,

"Stay with me - don't go."

For I know

A Promise was made

To stay with me and never go
