Staying Up All Night

It started with intersection

Then progression

Of the world our same perception

Everything caused depression

You were the exception

No aggression

No possession

Each other’s protection

Between us this connection

A smile in your direction

A thumbs up

A high five for good luck

Staying up all night

To make things seem alright

I can only wish for that again

So until then

I’ll wait with a glass in my hand

Who knows if I’ll ever land

Through the glasses

I see the masses

The idle passes

None of them lasted

Get rid of this disease

I’m begging you please

The emotional detachment

From me you’re absent

Any interaction is a reenactment

Gone is the passion

The compassion

Away is your new fashion

Acting like it didn’t happen

I can’t take action

With you again I can only imagine

Staying up all night

To make things seem alright

I can only wish for that again

So until then

I’ll wait with a glass in my hand

Who knows if I’ll ever land

Who knows who knows

It just shows

As much as friendship grows

So also it can decompose

Talk about all time lows

Without you time slows

But that’s time I suppose

So here it goes

The drink flows

Throwing down pretty clothes

The pain comes in blows

Pain I won’t expose

Pain I enclose

Drown it in my woes

Long nights I won’t compose

I wish you were there for those

Staying up all night

To make things seem alright

I can only wish for that again

So until then

I’ll wait with a glass in my hand

Who knows if I’ll ever land
