Steel Canopy

I’m lying here awake With visions in my head All I am’s at stake Must fight myself instead I try to break the walls But to no avail I just wander down the halls Of my own personal hell Surrounded by steel In a concrete facility Thoughts, interject like quills Under this steel canopy Breaking down my will Spiritual atrophy Suicidal thoughts swill Drowning in my agony As I come up for air I cry out! To the heavens Is anybody there? No, is my impression Does anybody care? Overwhelmed in my depression Sanity starts to tear As hope is in recession This steel awning Envelopes around me Represents the dawning Of madness I foresee I can’t stand the pressure Shattering all belief It’s this pain without measure Which brings me to my knees This pain is never ending In my soul it dwells My fate is ever pending As fear starts to swell Is He really ever knowing? Only time will tell There’s a tugging and a pulling Me, into this darkened veil Torture me Steel Canopy Rip from me Everything I believe Strip me clean From the truth I see Till I cry out for mercy And death sets me free
