An STEM Person Writes a Poem
I Am Ever-Changing
Like a phoenix risen from ashes
And the sun traveling from the brink of dawn to the edge of dusk
And the ocean when the light vanishes and the bioluminescent fish transform into stars.
I Am Yearning
To cater education to us struggling at home
And fight for the students defying the cards stacked against them
And to show what we can do with endless encouragement on our side.
I Am Longing
To give back to my parents to whom I owe my life
And forgave me for totaling the car that held my father and sister
And spending every cent they laboriously earn on my wellbeing.
I Am Pushing
To progress my learning every day at an exponential rate
And read to propel myself through countless alternative perspectives
And do what I can to promote my school’s mantra:
ALWAYS MY BEST.
I Am Going;
I Am Running;
I Am Sprinting
To a better future than my past.
But Most Importantly,
Is what I Am Not:
I Am Never Going to Stop Climbing
To the Top
Above the Mountains
Head in the Clouds
Wind raising me above fellow refugees
Running from a darkness to a light
And looking to remember our one life we have totally burnt down and thrust from the ashes.
I Am Never Going to Stop Going Up.
