Step 2

They say that anger’s

Just one part of loss

And to forgive

To let go, move on

But how do I forgive

When you never said “I’m sorry.”?

I need you to know

How angry you made me

And still make me

I want to scream

And curse

And hit

And I wonder could a spirit hear

The vicious words I’d shout

The hate inside me burns

But I’m unsure how to get it out.

I knew of your pain

But you never spoke of it

If only you had opened up to me

Where might we be today?

Instead you held it in

And it ate you up inside

I ask myself sometimes,

Am I doing just the same?

No, I assure myself

I’m not like you

Not that way

I won’t be destroyed by a grudge

Against a dead man

As you let yourself be

But I still hope you can hear me

Wherever you may be

And I pray

That though I sometimes hate you

You still feel all the love you get from me
