Steps to a Forever and Always

The freedom to be yourself

in thick or thin

through rough and tough

with loving support

and healing hands

to bind broken bones

and to mend broken hearts

from the path of life

that all have to face

having support and care

is a guiding light in the dark.

Supporting your loved ones

even though you disagree

giving them helpful feedback

but not over stepping your boundaries.

Wanting to spend every minute

holding and grasping

the precious genuine time

that is left on the clock

but leaving space

for your lover to breath and think

for themselves

also for you

to grasp your own thoughts and desires.

You let others also enjoy

in the wonderful light and joy

that they spread wherever they go.

Don't be greedy,

others deserve their love too.

Don't rush into passion.

Enjoy the butterflies

that turn your stomach into knots

and the goose bumps that you feel

when you smell there sweet aroma

fill the air

fill the room

fill your heart.

Remember the little things.

the first time they touched your hand

the bouquet of flowers

burnt "home-made" microwave dinners

text messages when you're down

arms around your shoulder

those nightly runs

in that moment you hated it,

now cherished as a memory.

Listen to them.

Enjoy the sound of their voice

listen to their inner thoughts

their inner feelings

and external dramas and debates.

Hopefully you are treated this way

however,

you must also return the favor.

Give 110 percent

be the reason why they smile

the reason why they get out of bed

and be their night and day.

If you are lucky,

you may end up being

their forever and always.
