Stepsisters lament

Blinded

Veiled by vanitys lace

Our fault? Not really.

The parents are shamed in this case

Control? We were never without.

Money? beauty?

Never a doubt

Until the prince chose a sepreate route.

But did we want him

Or the idea of royalty and gain

Would it have been worth

The cost of toes and heels and pain?

Turns out it wasn't

A least in Cinderellas case

A prince who meets other women

Solely for the chase

We went into the woods

Surprisigly with little regret

Our pathways now

Are more clearly set.

We still ended up royal

With the beauty a dresses

Just with blind eyes

To remind that beauty is subjective

(This isn't part of the poem just a disclaimer to show that I don't own any aspect of the musical Into The Woods which this is based upon.)
