stigmata by pop

quiet
ohsoveryveryquiet
so quiet it tricks me into thinking
i am only imagining it
so faint, so far away
it must be coming from some other room
next door?
the other house?
but when i leave this space, it follows me

this cursed music
soft awful pop music
clips from songs
real or imagined, a bit of both
regrettable refrains on loop loop loop
repeating just enough to get stuck
but not enough to end
to complete a song

when all is quiet these pop songs come out for me
so quiet no one
to follow me from room to room

lore says those with stigmata smell roses before they bleed
science says those who have a stroke or a seizure hear muisc
at lease i thought i read that somewhere
perhaps i imagined that as well
along with psychotics that have auditory hallucinations

holy,sick or crazy
i care not which
so long as the songs stop
(please don't curse me with taylor swift)
