Still
CC BYThe day I won't forget,
The day I will never forget.
Although it is a sad day, it is still a day.
Deer in headlights is what people compare me too.
That was me when I looked in her casket.
She was still, her chest frozen in place.
I didn't cry the whole funeral service,
Not until I touched her hand.
Her skin was oh so cold.
I finally realized she was gone and never to breathe again.
She would never be warm,
All that filled her body was a cold feeling.
One of death.
When we closed her casket,
I lightned up.
Realizing she would always be warm inside.
By her casket littered with pink and purple flowers.
And best of all,
She was warm by her surrrounding family.
Then through the rain,
A rainbow appeared.
As still as me.
