Still Alive

Take a sip

No spinning starts, not yet

I am still me.

I feel my fears, the sorrow, the pains,

contained in all my memories.

I must need more, I sip again.

Giving in to need over want,

the need to survive in a stone cold life,

the need to defy the past that haunts.

Some more finds me a happy place

untouched by man, unreached by time.

I am all powerful, my heart is safe,

and from all enemies it now can fly.

Fear starts to build with every sip,

I need to make this feeling last.

Greedy hands reach for empty cups,

the room begins to spin at last.

From now on nothing is recalled.

Brain is blank, heart is numb.

It waits for life, or waits for death

not caring to which it will now be judged.

Success is found in the breaking dawn,

another night survived.

Meet the troubles of the day,

a pounding heart,

a pounding mind,

still alive.
