still i rise
You can write me down in history with bitter twisted lies, you can throw me in the same dirt, but like air I'll rise. Does my happiness upset you? Cause my eyes are glistening like the sun and the moon? Would you rather see me broken? Lowered head and tear filled eyes, tears falling down like raindrops broken by my soul felt cries? Does my boldness hurt you? Cause theres a smile on my face and my head is held high? Does my laughter offend you? Cause I won't bend my head in shame, because I laugh with joy rather to cover up the pain? Does my beautifulness hurt you? Do you not like that i sparkle as though theres diamonds in my eyes? You can taunt me with my past, you can throw me in the dirt, you can say that I am worthless, yu can cut me with your words, even kill me with your hatefulness, but like the torando in the night I will rise. You can use the past to try and block me, say things to try and break me, tell me I'll never make it, but like the flowers in the Spring I will rise. Do whatever you want to try and break me, use my name in bitter hateful lies, or even break my heart to pieces, but just like the earthquake in California, I'll shake it off and I will rise! Yes sometimes life may get the best of me and i may have to cry, but please remember everytime I fall I will rise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
