Still I Shine Still I Rise

STILL I SHINE STILL I RISE

BY:LATISHA DILLARD

Shout out to Martin when being free was a destiny

When sitting next to a different race was a dream

When blacks came together and fought for what they feel is right

Now blacks can’t even look at each other without killing each other which is a scary sight

Shout out to the weak and the strong

The old and the poor

Shout out to that boy cause he the one that hurted me to the core

Shout out to my ex best friend

I love you Latisha Imma stay until the end

Go with the flow and let go

Life goes on and you’ll never know when it’s your time

so smile, shine, because no matter where life takes me like Maya says STILL I RISE

Shout out to my long lost friend Ja’Rina

She is as strong as Katrina

I got kicked, push, and others threw dirt on my name

I couldn’t even take up for myself which was a shame

She cried with me and in her face I can tell she felt my pain

Since Ja’Rina been gone everyday is like a sad song but in my heart she remains  with blood flowing through my veins

Shout out to Latisha

Little, Loving, Latisha

Tick Tock the clock of life still goes on

She smiles and hold her head high

show no emotion she is something hard to define

Latisha is the enemy so everyone target her at one time

but No matter how much you hate me nor don’t like me still I SHINE

and just like Maya says STILL I RISE
