Still I succeed

You might strike me until I am broken

With your cowardly, pitiful threats

You may kick me to the cracked concrete

But still, like Araminta Ross, I’ll succeed.

Does my creativeness discourage you?

Why are you filled with envy?

Cause I work like I’ve gone down

This rocky road before.

Just like men and like boys,

With all the brainpower they have,

Just like my grades rising high,

Still I’ll succeed.

Out of the shantytowns of smart human’s shame

I succeed

Up from a book that’s ‘only for boys’

I succeed

I’m a vast encyclopedia, knowing all and all,

Learning and churning I stay in the knowledge.

Leaving behind comments of doubts and negativity

I succeed

Into a college textbook of new content

I succeed

Bringing the intelligence that fellow women have given

I am the model and display of the smart girl.

I succeed

I flourish

I prosper.
