Still a Melting Pot

You came unto me

Because you love me

And because I love you

I will protect you

And because you love me

You will defend me at every opportunity

And because I love you

I will understand you

And I will try, harder than ever

To harness you

To home you

To house you

To hold myself together in honor of your differences

And because you love me

You will not let them persecute you

No matter what you believe or what you wear or what color you are

You are as native as every last one of them

And because you love me

You understand me with a persistent study that they always had the privilege of not having to

And you seek my every possibility because you know that in me alone they are endless

And no border or boundary can limit what I offer those who dream

I am all you know

They cannot force us apart

And because you love me, you will stay

And you will repeat these words back to them

And you will love them

Because I love you
