The Stillness of a Winter Scene

The stillness of a winter scene

With leaves like corpses covering the ground

Snow covering them like a shroud

What comfort it brings

A hot cup of tea that I don’t even like

A book in my hand

A head in dreamland

To me it’s all alike

The subconscious

The obscure

That seemingly bottomless pool of darkness

I peer in careful not to fall

But get a small taste
