Stitches

Stitches
by erika taylor

Stitches

Can’t seem to contain

My wounds

Opened, and reopened

Like a fresh cut,

Red starving for the light

Blood from the vein,

Could bring no greater pain

Than the sting of “love”

Betrayal is a blade,

Sharp with feeling,

Against skin, cold

I wonder, how

Many times I can bleed out

Before I cease to be?

A shell, held together by

Stitches,

That’s all that’s left.

It's true, but sticthes leave scars.

Like theives in the night they linger,

for they care not for the light of day.

Ever evading the truth of the matter, however bold...so we pay.
