Stockholm Syndrome


Love is frightening.

         I will never again be  

    independent.

I am emotionally attached.

        And that's terrifying.

I now have a button-

        a system override

                that is triggered every time

                I see those marbled eyes.

And if those eyelashes are headed my way

        or that dimple appears again

or those big, rough hands find my hips, 

       I have no choice in the matter.

                      I'm trapped.

But I have severe stockholm syndrome.
