Stones

Job 24:5 New King James Version (NKJV)

Indeed, like wild donkeys in the desert,
They go out to their work, searching for food.
The wilderness yields food for them and for their children.

Stones

West Texas

Living on a rock looking for some grass

Now even the weeds seem kind of nice

Desperation near ... food in short supply

The ones born here are the ones who survive

Many came and went ... such unusual conditions

At first sight the beauty seemed different and attractive

Some stayed a while others left because little perseverance

They thought all it took ... going on without practice

Few were left behind ... the unfortunate and tough

Life had little meaning except they accepted to be their own

Perseverance became the base of their chosen survival

Until gas and oil were discovered to help their income grow

Character formed through the ages ... not much chance to change

After all they stuck it out ... in a place they could not tame

Dessert ground and daily heat ... water sparse and dirty

Yes it was not worth much ... until minerals made them wealthy.
