"Stop the Beating (56 Drums)"

Can you stand the beating of the drums?

1..2..3..4…

Constant and durable,

5...6...7...8…

Ruthless and determined,

9...10...11...12…

Strength and bravery,

13...14...15...16…

Count them out ‘til it beats in your head.

17...18...19...20…

A measure of time, keeping a tempo of life.

21...22...23...24…

Time is frozen in this unforgiving place.

25...26...27...28…

The lines between past, present, and future melt together, due to that unceasing beating.

29...30...31...32…

Yet you are painfully aware of each second passing.

33...34...35...36…

Due to the faithful banging.

37...38...39...40…

You’re used to the noise; expect it even.

41...42...43...44…

For it dictates a rhythm.

45...46...47...48…

A comforting, constant rule

49...50...51...52…

So you should thank that beating drum

53...54...55...56…

It’s given you peace.
