Stop the Silence

I would start this by saying my fellow Americans, but it’s more than that. What we lost, it’s bigger than that.

We stand here in the wake of tragedy praying and mourning in moments of silence. But what does silence accomplish? The self-proclaimed “greatest country” can only offer silence because being silent is easier than admitting this can be blamed on your shortcomings. Do not let the media trick them, this was a hate crime. They were in a safe place, celebrating who they were and that’s why they were targeted. They weren’t just gay, they were brothers and sisters, they had families, they were young people and they had potential and they were loved. They were part of a community that has long suffered. But instead they became the victims of greedy Americans who are willing to let people get slaughtered than admit there’s a huge gun problem in this country.

This is nothing our silence can fix. So I refuse to be silent. I will scream and riot and not shut up until something is done.
