Stop the violence!
I am awaken by the loud gun shot,
Cries of women, mourning over the dead
Blood, spilled over the sidewalk
People murdered under suspicious reasons
When will this violence end?
Christians persecuted for their faith,
Children locked away in juvenile centers,
When will this pain end?
Poverty, famine, sickness
Colored people tormented due to their features,
When will police brutality end?
“I have a dream” Martin Luther once said,
That this generation will be innovative,
When will society stand up and claim what is rightfully theirs,
When will the people stand and say,
“This is enough… This isn’t right”
Why should children worry about whether their families are safe?
Or what they’ll be having for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
When will this oppression end?
Who will be the leader, crafting the path for upcoming generations?
When will we stand hand in hand, Sharing ideas without judgements?
Is it a crime to want peace in a word so beautiful?
Is it wrong to wish that this world was perfect?
When will this dictatorship end?
People betraying each other, only to get hurt in the process
When will I be able to walk on school ground without any rumors of murders, fight, and gossips?
When will the people realize that this is wrong?
“Stop the violence”, I scream but no one seems to hear,
If we remain this way, it will lead only to destruction
Stop hating and stop allowing jealousy to rule you conscience
