The stories they told us
The gods of old walk among us.
With hidden powers and secrets
they stay with us and help us.
The angels of heaven walk with us.
With halos willingly taken from their heads
and hidden wings, they watch over us
and defend the helpless.
The Fae of the forest live with us.
With customs deep within them.
Hidden from us, yet still celebrated.
They punish those who destroy our forests
and those who run nature.
The vampires of fables are with us.
With their hunger for blood
poisoning everything they touch.
Fulfilling their dark desires
With a different kind of pain now.
The shape-shifters of old are with us.
With many desires and faces,
Hiding their true identities,
Behind many different masks.
