storm

The lightning strikes once again

I want to sleep,

but the lightning wakes me

once again.

I hate the way,

lightning so carelessly dances across the sky,

for it reminds me of how I once was-

I was foolish,

but I was happy,

I was quicker than most,

and brightest of them all,

but to my despair the show of lights

must come to an end,

and after lightning there is thunder:

a deep roar from within.

I want to escape

from the cries from the heavens above-

I want it all to be over,

so I wait in the darkness

I want to believe that the storm has passed

but the rain just keeps falling.
