The Storm

The Storm

Just like the calm before the storm,

far before the clouds can form.

When everything is calm as can be,

before the animals can think to flee.

You wish everything would stop and freeze,

it's that something you just want to seize.

A feel good moment,

all things bad lie dormant.

But, beware.

In the blink of an eye,

everything that can satisfy,

quickly fades away.

A subtle difference,

in the smallest of increments,

goes without a say.

Everything that once felt safe,

all turns out to being fake.

Everything that felt secure,

turns into an indecipherable blur.

Everything once held in confidence,

wouldn't change the circumstance.

And you can't help but wonder,

you're scared just to think,

why, oh why, did you have to blink?

Things that were wasted away,

now not only just kept at bay,

but gone in just one day.

Why did they disappear?

If only kept near,

there was really nothing to fear.

Moments that could have been acted upon,

now wasted when things are said and done.

Awhile after, the storm is done.

It's over now, the past has gone.

Hope renewed,

both here and now.

Fullness restored, someday, somehow.

It's the calm after the storm.
