The Storm

The days long ago were ice cold

Yet some people had nothing to hold

The town was wiped clean

By that storm that was so mean

The windows and buildings were demolished

The streets, house and cars abolished

Original isolated hearts were more alone

This storm took everything that one owned

Days of silence and cleaning the town

Trying to rid it of the horrendous brown

Why, oh why, in this town everyone had been

Did this storm come that was so mean

Rebuilding and decorating came in stages

Everyone started putting together books of new pages

Slowly evolving from this horrendous fate

That was terrible of this storm of hate

Helping hands and neighbors aligned

Those who never knew they lived behind

Changing the hearts of those who resented

This storm brought together those presented

Closer and closer the people finally came

It’s funny how only the storm is to blame

The hearts of many changed to align as one

I love what this community is to become.
