STORM BIRD

Storm Bird.....

A raucous refrain

delivered on high,

always unseen to naked eye

and camouflaged;

in amongst

a canopy of green

and purple flowers,

of a Jacaranda tree,

“coo-eee” it called,

not once,

not twice,

or even thrice,

in monotonous overtones,

a shrieking crescendo,

loud!

and shrill!

and repeated

over and over again,

it’s close on summer,

and storm bird

has returned,

to our neck of the woods,

and storm clouds

a gathering to the east,

and in the yonder,

the earth will no longer,

be parched no more.
